Ft. Lauderdale, Florida – Silversea Cruises Responses to CDC’S Discovery of Organized Effort to Hide Expired Food in Crew Cabins
Each year thousands of people come to Florida for the sun and water. Along many of Florida’s beaches are Jet Ski, WaveRunner, Sea-Doo and other personal watercraft rental companies. Often times these rental companies are staffed with part time employees who are more interested in checking out the action on the beach than the safety of the renters. These employees oftentimes give cursory instruction on how to turn on and off the watercraft, ask the renters to sign the “rental agreement” and send them off. Speed combined with inexperience and lack of instruction is a recipe for disaster.
It seems each month there is a news report about a crewmember assaulting a passenger while on a cruise. Vacationers take cruises to relax and have fun. Cruise lines spend millions of dollars portraying their ships as the model of safety and security. This combination causes people to let their guard down and makes them a target for predators. Recently cruise lines such as Royal Caribbean, Disney, Carnival and NCL started releasing better statistics of crime committed on their ships. Statics coming from these cruise lines are quite disturbing and showcases the fact cruise ships are not safe places they appear.
Slip and falls occur with regularity on gangways and ramps leading from cruise ships to land. The reason for this is simple. Often times these ramps are made of metal with anti-slip taped strips. Thousands of people walk these gangways each day causing the ramp to bend and the tape to deteriorate. Without proper maintenance from the cruise line, the anti-slip properties of the gangways are all but lost. Add rain water and the condition becomes quite hazardous.
